This is a wonderful tribute not only to the research that is being conducted by WVU students, but also to the ambition and hard work that our student editors have demonstrated to make this journal a reality. Molly, Lea, and Dwight have done a very admirable job and the entire project has shown the benefits of collaboration from Dr. Keith Garbutt and the Honors College, EPSCoR at the Higher Education Policy Commission, WVU faculty and students and the ASPIRE Office.

After reading the first edition of MURR, I am delighted by the quality of work, depth of academic investigation, and promise of bright careers for all those involved with its development. Great universities both dispense knowledge through education and create new knowledge through research. West Virginia University’s MURR platform for encouraging knowledge creation and providing for its publication brings a bright new opportunity for student contributions to the university and beyond. Congratulations to the Honors College, its leadership and outstanding students!
