Program Description
Upper-class Honors College students will be selected
to be peer tutors & mentors and assigned to live in the New Residence Hall a2009-2010 school year. Peer tutors & mentors are obligated to tutor and mentor for the first-year students living inthe New Residence Hall. Peer Tutors & Mentors receive no compensation and are responsible for their room and board. Peer Tutors & Mentors are required to perform the following duties:
- Tutor students and lead study groups
- Serve as a mentor and positive role model to first year students in Honors Residence Hall under shared supervision of Dr. Keith Garbutt and Pr. Marie Leichliter.
- Enroll in HONR 490, Placement Res Hall tutoring (2 credit hours), under the supervision of Dr. Keith Garbutt each semester. Honors students can take up to 9 hours from a single source
- Attend certain social and academic programs sponsored by the Honors College and the Resident Faculty Leaders of Honors Residence Hall, for the purpose of meeting students and encouraging them to participate in the peer tutoring & mentoring program.
There will be approximately 30 places available. Selection will be based on the answers you provide on this application. We will notify you of the results of your application as soon as possible.
