Day One: busy honors bees

Dr. Garbutt – your dean, Dr. DeFrank-Cole – your ASPIRE office director, Rose Simis Cole (me), Daphne Pringle – your Academic Ambassador, Zach Gouzd – your Community Ambassador, Lauren Dembeck – your Honors Orientation Coordinator , and Shane Miller – NCHC board member, have just finished their first set of workshops, meetings, and presentations in Denver. I’d say we’ve already come up with more exciting ideas that we will know what to do with when we get back to Morgantown…

We’ve learned about assessment in honors, diversity in honors, making honors relevant, and using advice from honors boards and councils. Comment if you want to add to our new knowledge or if you’re wondering about what’s been going on!

More later, but now for the plenary speaker and opening session…

Hello. First let me say that I thoroughly enjoy the new Honors Blog. What a great idea! I am glad to see that the NCHC Conference tradition has continued as I found some of the best ideas at the presentations in New Orleans and St. Louis.

Have you heard of any good presentations on connecting with Honors Alumni? I’d love to help with that if the opportunity arises.

Is anyone participating in City as Text this year?

Have a great trip

It’s so great to hear from such a fantastic honors alum! And, speaking of, I think there is a presentation on alumni relations tomorrow or this afternoon. We’ll definitely share info with you.

No one was able to do City as Text, but from what we can tell Denver is a pretty neat town. Google Patty Limerick – she was an awesome plenary speaker…smart and hilarious.

Thanks for the well-wishes!

Way to go gang! It’s awfully lonely here without you! Have a good trip home. Don’t forget to “fall” back on Sunday morning! Glad you are busy bees!

Make us proud!

JoAnn
